About

Canine Dental IOM provides professional preventative oral hygiene care for dogs across the Isle Of Man

Founded by a qualified and GDC registered Dental nurse with extensive dental experience specialising in oral health. Here we focus on helping owners improve and maintain their dogs oral health through non sedation cleaning, oral hygiene education and personalised home care advice to keep dogs gums healthy, long term

Every dog receives an individual oral hygiene assessment, within our scope of practice. Where veterinary treatment is required, we will advise honestly and can send vet referrals if necessary. We also offer on-going maintenance cleanings to help support good oral hygiene following veterinary dental treatment.

Happier mouths = Happier and healthier dogs

Frequently asked questions

How do I book?

Simply email us or contact us on one of our socials

You can also call us on the number provided - if you leave a voice mail someone will return your call as soon as possible

Why do dogs need their teeth cleaned?

The same as humans, dogs can develop plaque and tarter on their teeth. Certain breeds, genetics and diets can aggravate this. Without regular oral hygiene, this can lead to:

Bad breath Tarter build up Inflamed gums Heart and organ problems Declining oral health Vet scalings under general anaesthetic ranging from £500-£1000

How do you know if my dog is suitable for non sedation cleaning?

Most dogs are suitable for this type of cleaning. As it’s noise and vibration free, most dogs find it very tolerable. We see many nervous dogs who have adapted to treatment very well. If upon assessment we find your dog won’t be suitable, we will advise honestly and refer to your vet if needed

Can you help with their home care?

Certainly, this is what we specialise in. Having over 15 years of clinical dental experience, we have a broad knowledge of oral health and plaque prevention. The number one gold standard is daily brushing, this will do your dogs many favours later down the line. We can show you how to brush your dogs teeth properly and provide you with appropriate products that will supplement their oral health long term

Where are you based?

We are based by Ballakermeen high school in Douglas. We have a small outdoor clinic which dogs tend to find relaxing and inviting. Appointments are drop off/pick up basis as we don’t currently have a waiting room available, but may do in the future
